PHARMACOGENETIC TESTING
A genetic variant may mean that our bodies process certain drugs in a specific way, faster or slower. Other factors like age, weight, liver, and kidney function also play a critical role. A typical example is the CYP2C19 Drug Metabolism which provides details about how citalopram and clopidogrel work in individuals with certain variants. Always talk to your healthcare professional about how DNA variants may affect your drug metabolism, before stopping or starting your medication regime.
